In a disgraceful bid to capitalize on the pain and suffering of Venezuela, made possible by the rampant misinformation, ignorance and racism that has besieged this peaceful Latin American country, Jeff Bezos and Amazon, have released the next season (2) in this latest iteration of the Jack Ryan franchise, the adventures and exploits of a fictional CIA Analyst of the same name created by Tom Clancy.

Previously played by Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, Jack is now played by John Krazinski, acting undercover in Venezuela. True to form for such propaganda masquerading as entertainment and something that would have made Clancy proud, Ryan, of course, plays the “good guy” sent by the CIA (a real transnational criminal organization responsible for untold suffering and death in the region) to unravel an elaborate and far-reaching conspiracy orchestrated by the country’s fictional president (Nicolas Reyes).

It’s bad enough the psychopaths in Washington are openly threatening the country, the people and its duly elected and legitimate government on almost a daily basis in an attempt to illegally appropriate the nation’s oil and natural resources, what’s even more appalling is the timing with Bezos and Amazon cashing in on the suffering at a time when the US is ratcheting up the pressure, imposing more onerous economic blockades and illegal sanctions; the opening season was released just a week after another failed coup attempt on the country. None of this should be surprising considering that Bezos, a CEO who, after being forced to pay his workers $15/ hour, immediately removed stock options and the meager health benefits from associates’ compensation packages.

Dr. Matthew Alford of the University of Bath, author of National Security Cinema: The Shocking New Evidence of Government Control in Hollywood, is quite clear that this latest iteration of the Jack Ryan franchise is a “disgrace of a series,” unfairly demonizing a nation at a time when the United States has its boot on the throat of Venezuelan society.

This is a bridge too far for me and, effective today, I have not only cancelled Amazon Prime but have cancelled my entire account and will no longer shop at Amazon.

Shame on Jeff Bezos and shame on Amazon!

After tracking a suspicious shipment in the Venezuelan jungle, Jack Ryan heads to South America to investigate. As Jack threatens to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy, the President of Venezuela launches a counter-attack that hits home, leading Jack on a mission spanning the US, UK, Russia, and Venezuela to unravel the President’s plot and bring stability to a country on the brink of chaos.
